Raoul Millais Landscape Paintings
British, 1901-1999
Hesketh Raoul Lejarderay Millais was the grandson of the Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir John Everett Millais, PRA and the son of the sporting artist John Guille Millais. He studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art and, in 1921, at the Royal Academy Schools. He followed his father as an artist, soldier, naturalist, hunter, writer and explorer, travelling with him on painting expeditions to Africa. He is well known for his equestrian paintings and his Spanish work, some created when he accompanied Ernest Hemingway. He is represented in a number of collections throughout Britain including those of the National Trust and National Horseracing Museum.to
