Roxana Azar is an artist from Philadelphia. Influenced by science fiction, plant intelligence, anxiety, and floral design, their studio work imagines a sentient landscape in an alternate universe lush with plant-like beings. Azar has exhibited their work nationally and internationally. They have been published in Mossless, Papersafe, and Yen Magazine, as well as featured online in Elephant Magazine, Waterfall, It's Nice That, Sight Unseen, and the Paper Journal. Azar has an MFA in Photography from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BFA in Photography from Tyler School of Art.

Set of 5 vintage mini pitchers or vases consists of 3 red pitchers (one - in matte amberina glass and two - in crackled red), one pitcher in crackled amethyst glass, and one - in crackled warm green glass. The foundation of Azar’s multidisciplinary process begins with photography and its reconstruction through collage and digital manipulation. From abstract photo collages, Azar creates photo sculptures, built of printed layers of translucent, transparent, and iridescent materials. The synthesis of image, material, and in some works, text, is activated by the interplay between the work and its environment. Each encounter with Azar’s work is an ephemeral experience orchestrated by the specific conditions of the moment, mirroring the transient phenomenology of our dreams and the subconscious.
