Sergio Hernández was born in 1957 in the town of Santa María Xochixtlapilco, located near Huajuapan de León, in the Sierra Mixteca. He studied at the National School of Plastic Arts (1973–1974) and at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda” (1975–1981) in Mexico City. Later, circa 1987, he moved to Europe, where he started in graphics within Peter Bramsen's Parisian workshop. Since then, his artistic production has been very varied and complete since he has ventured into different areas of plastic such as engraving, sculpture, ceramics and, of course, painting and drawing, becoming one of the most outstanding artists of Mexico today. His work is included in the permanent collections of museums such as the Modern Art Museum of Mexico City, the Monterrey Museum, the Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Aguascalienes, the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Museum Würth Künzelau from Germany, among others. Since the 80’s, Sergio Hernández has had a large number of individual exhibitions, both national and international.

"23 V: Countercurrent, " Large Contemporary Oil Painting on Canvas by Renée Rey
Located in Plainview, NY
In her mixed-media artwork "23 V Countercurrent," Rey explores narratives connecting nature, technology and sustainability. Fusing a Postmodern oeuvre of abstraction and surrealism, with a nod to Tiepolo, Constable and Dali, the artist ignites saturated stems of red, pink, and green pigments in a world where color and form flow in and out of multi-perspectives. Springing forth through space is symbolic iconography. Sea life including fish, manatee and coral swim through currents of air, water and land as the artist examines the dynamic link between them. Engineered towers protect vital H2O for human sustenance while elements of the periodic table depict the equality of all that exists on earth and beyond. Renée Rey...
