Antique French Baccarat Opaline Perfume Casket Box with Four Bottles This opaline perfume casket is formed as an oval box with softly rounded corners and a domed hinged lid. The body is constructed from opaque white opaline glass panels fitted within a continuous gilt bronze framework. The lid opens on rear hinges to reveal a fitted interior designed to hold four square perfume bottles, each topped with a gilt bronze stopper. The interior is organized with a shaped gilt bronze cradle and separators that secure each bottle individually. The exterior mount includes a front escutcheon with a keyhole aperture, flanked by applied scrolling feet at each corner, raising the casket slightly above the surface. A delicate gilt bronze swing handle is mounted at the sides, allowing the casket to be lifted as a single unit. The underside is enclosed with a matching opaline glass panel framed in bronze. The casket is identified as a French Baccarat opaline perfume casket. Baccarat is documented as a manufacturer of opaline glass objects and luxury toiletry items during this period, supplying fitted boxes and perfume sets for domestic and dressing table use.
