Elegant Italian swivel chair designed by Gastone Rinaldi for RIMA, dating to the 1960s. The chair features a sculptural upholstered shell with a gently enveloping profile, refined vertical stitching and a distinctive horizontally ribbed lumbar section. The seat is upholstered in white leather and supported by a polished chromed-metal pedestal terminating in a five-star base with casters. Its silhouette reflects the refined experimentation of postwar Italian furniture design, combining ergonomic comfort with a distinctly architectural form. The contrast between the soft upholstered shell and the precise chromed-metal base gives the chair a sophisticated, almost automotive character typical of the period. Thanks to its compact proportions and swivel base, the chair remains especially versatile in a contemporary interior. It can be used as an elegant desk chair, a refined vanity chair, a seat for a home office, dressing room or private study, or as a distinctive accent chair in a modern bedroom or living space. ABOUT Gastone Rinaldi Gastone Rinaldi was born in Padua in 1920, and graduated in accounting at the Belzoni Institute. Initially he worked for the Rima company in via Guido Reni in Padua, founded by his father Mario Rinaldi in 1916. In his work as a designer he came into contact with many of the major Italian designers, including Giò Ponti, Carlo Mollino, Alberto Rosselli, Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi, Michele De Lucchi and Marco Zanuso.
