This minimalist space age ashtray was designed by Luigi Massoni and manufactured by Guzzini in the 1970s. The lower half is made from hard plastic. The upper half is made from chromed metal. Seeing the condition of this item, it was probably never used as an ashtray and is therefore in very good condition.

Luigi Massoni was one of Italy’s most prolific designers and instrumental in the growth of the country’s design industry in the postwar years through his products, advertising campaigns and journalistic work at Italian magazines.
Born in Milan, Massoni trained at the Collettivo di Architettura in Milan and worked as an architect and designer as well as a freelance journalist and consultant. He was involved with many of Italy’s most influential brands, such as Poltrona Frau, the Guzzini group and Alessi. Massoni was hired by Alessi, the legendary housewares and kitchen utensils manufacturer, which had been around since 1921, in the mid-1950s. Art Deco ashtray stand, smoke stand, smoke standing ashtray, floor ashtray, cocktail smoker stand. An ashtray on a stand made from chromed metal and bakelite.
Made in the 1930s by the Belgian Company Demeyere. Is also stamped in the ashtray. The chrome and bakelite are still in very beautiful condition.
This ashtray stand is also still complete with all his accessoires:
the stand with on top the holder for a pack of matches, a bakelite conical container with a bakelite ashtray in which has a valve with handle to open, so the cigarette ends fall in the container and all the beautiful finishing knobs.
