Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Cricket Inkwell
By William Hair Haseler
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique Edwardian English sterling silver and cricket ball inkwell; an addition to our diverse ornamental silverware collection
This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver inkstand has a plain rectangular shaped form.
The surface of this impressive Birmingham silver inkstand is plain and fitted to either end with a pen rest/stand, realistically modelled in the form of baluster shaped cricket bails.
The upper plateau features a protruding shaped plateau to the posterior surface, supporting an impressive and unusual cricket ball inkwell.
The inkwell retains the original red leather cricket ball* covering, incorporating all the details of the stitching.
This antique inkwell is fitted with a hallmarked domed hinged cover with incurved shaped thumbpiece to the anterior edge.
The cover opens to reveal the removable glass ink liner.

The chamfered rim of the stand is embellished with an applied floral and reed decorated border.
This antique inkwell is supported by four bun style feet.
