Surface stable and well preserved. Style: Post-Impressionism, Mediterranean Landscape Description Beautiful original oil on panel by celebrated Catalan painter Rafael Duran Benet depicting a peaceful Mediterranean village bathed in soft natural light. Whitewashed houses, terracotta roofs and a flowering tree create an intimate architectural composition that perfectly captures the timeless charm of rural Spain. Executed with energetic yet controlled brushwork, the painting displays Duran Benet's remarkable sensitivity to colour, atmosphere and perspective. The cool blue mountains on the horizon contrast beautifully with the warm façades and earthy tones of the village, while the blossoming branches frame the scene with freshness and movement. Rafael Duran Benet is admired for his evocative landscapes inspired by Catalonia and the Mediterranean coast. His paintings combine strong chromatic harmony with expressive post-impressionist handling, making them highly decorative while retaining genuine artistic quality. Works depicting traditional Spanish villages remain among the artist's most sought-after subjects, appealing to collectors of Mediterranean, Spanish and European twentieth-century painting. This piece would complement both classic and contemporary interiors and represents an excellent example of modern Catalan landscape painting. Biography Rafael Duran Benet (Terrassa, 1931-Barcelona, 2015) was a distinguished Catalan painter and nephew of the renowned artist and critic Rafael Benet. He trained under the sculptor Manolo Hugué and developed a highly personal artistic language rooted in the Mediterranean tradition. Throughout his career he became known for his luminous landscapes, coastal scenes, village views, gardens and still lifes. His vibrant palette, expressive brushwork and ability to capture Mediterranean light earned him recognition among collectors of modern Spanish art. His works are represented in numerous private collections in Spain and abroad. Artistic Inspiration This composition recalls the poetic Mediterranean landscapes of Joaquim Mir, Josep Amat and Ramon de Capmany while maintaining Rafael Duran Benet's unmistakable personality. The quiet village street, flowering tree and subtle mountain backdrop celebrate the beauty of everyday Mediterranean life through a refined post-impressionist vision rich in colour, light and atmosphere.
