Monumentally Scaled Mixed Media Original Drawings in Graphite and Charcoal by Robert Flynn (1967-2007). These pieces are titled "St. Augustine #3" and "St. Augustine #6". Both retain the original artist's tags en verso, and are signed and dated across the bottom of the works. These are two of Mr. Flynn's last pieces of art, both created in 2005, before his untimely passing two years later. Robert Flynn received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ and his BFA from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. Flynn's work was exhibited in several group and solo shows across the country since the early 1990s. Flynn's late work was heavily influenced by gardening, yard work and the competition in American culture for the "trophy lawn." Creating sculpture, drawings and paintings that celebrated the various elements of the yard, Flynn objectified nature – making the backyard a modern day fetish.
