About Ignacio de Grado

I don’t use brushes, apart from a large one at the very start to lay the first colour. Everything after that is building tools: knives, palette knives, scraping spatulas, trowels. A single work canhold sand, gesso, watercolour, cold wax, oil, plaster and concrete. Each behaves differently, each reacts to what sits beside it, and together they make a surface the viewer can almostfeel without touching it. I work on plywood, almost always.
