About Prologue

Prologue is a family-owned house, founded in 1988, that designs and makes its own work in its own atelier. Sculpting, hand fabrication, chasing, stone setting, patination and finishing are all done by our own goldsmiths, to a standard the house sets and checks itself. Almost all we have made in nearly forty years was commissioned privately by royal households across several continents, passed by referral from one household to the next, and never shown. Three of those works have since entered the United States federal record as state gifts, and the rest remain in the room...Read More

More About Prologue

The Prologue showroom in Dubai. Objets d'art in sterling silver and bronze on travertine and oak plinths, with the jewellery in the vitrines behind. Most of what the house makes is private commission, and the showroom is where clients see finished work before it leaves for its final home.

Finishing a sterling silver horse in the Prologue atelier in Bangkok. Every piece is sculpted, cast, chased and finished by the house's own goldsmiths and silversmiths, and each component is brought to its final surface before assembly, which is why the work holds its relief under close inspection.

The Prologue stand at Jewellery Arabia 2025, Bahrain. The house has exhibited at Baselworld, Couture, The Palm Beach Show, the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition and Jewellery Arabia, showing jewellery in 18kt gold alongside sculptural objets d'art in sterling silver and bronze.

A falcon in sterling silver on the Prologue stand at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2025. Falconry subjects recur in the house's commissioned work for the Gulf, each bird sculpted in wax by hand before casting and chasing in the atelier.

Pedro and Corinne de Aranda, founders of Prologue. The house was founded by the de Aranda family in 1988 and remains family owned and family run, with the crest drawn from the family's own arms.

Carlos and Juan de Aranda, directors of Prologue, at Jewellery Arabia 2025. The second generation of the family leads the house today from Dubai, working with the atelier in Bangkok and with clients across the Gulf, Europe and the United States.

Objets d'art from the Prologue atelier: sculptural pieces in sterling silver and bronze with hardstone, enamel and gold detail. The house works in the tradition of the goldsmith's objet, made to the precision and tolerances of fine jewellery.

Sculpting the wax for a serpent in the Prologue atelier. Each scale is cut by hand before the model is cast in sterling silver, chased and patinated. The wax stage is where the character of every Prologue sculpture is decided.

A Prologue cocktail ring, a yellow sapphire set in blue sapphire pave with diamonds, made in 18kt gold in the house atelier. Prologue jewellery is designed and made in-house, from the first drawing to the final polish.
