This feature allowed a person to keep stationary supplies, sewing threads, or vanity items organized. Beneath the tray lies a larger open storage well.
DESIGN: The design heavily channels Federal and Centennial Americana revival styles. The central motif features a beautifully detailed marquetry inlay of the American bald eagle perched on an olive branch—a classical symbol of peace and national identity.
