French Theatrical Torcheres

About the Item

Dramatic early 19th century pair of seven foot tall French torcheres that were made for a theater in Normandy. Intricately carved wood pieces designed with oversized scrolled bases that surround a center acorn shape with fleur-de-lis detail. The middle with winged griffins with twisted tails that rise up to support fluted urns on their tails. Hand-painted trompe l'oeil bronze finish.
