The Largo Box is designed by India Foster in collaboration with Lucas Coffield Leather and Bent Tree Studio. Each box is made from FSC certified wood with a beeswax finish and brass side rail hinges. The top is inset with tobacco brown wild alligator skin. Alligator skin is highly sought after, but typically the fashion industry only uses farm raised alligators because their skins have fewer "imperfections". Instead our skins are hand selected from wild alligator skins. In areas where wild alligators come in conflict with dense human populations, these animals are harvested through a state managed program. Each box has a brass plaque with a tag number to verify its source from a sustainable use program that helps ensure wildlife and habitat protection. At Shizen Studio, every consideration is made to respect the earth and her inhabitants. Designs are produced by a network of skilled artisans and makers that share a commitment to the environment, local community and quality craftsmanship. Glues are water-based and non-toxic. No VOC finishes are made from botanically derived oils and beeswax. All packing materials are reusable, biodegradable and recyclable. Each design is intended to foster a sense of connection to the natural world.
