19th Century Chinese Jade Set In Modern Italian Solid Silver Velvet Lined Box

About the Item

A rare and stunning antique 19th Century pierced jade set into a circular silver box. The jade dates back to over 200 years ago to Northern China. The box has a smooth, rounded design, and upon opening the hinged lid, a velvet lining is revealed. This exceptional piece was crafted in Milan by the skilled maker Dabbene and retailed by them. Hallmarked Italian silver (825 standard), Firenze (FI), Makers mark Dabbene (Dabbene Milano). CONDITION In Great Condition - Wear expected with age. Please refer to photographs. Antique 19th Century Chinese export solid silver box, of rectangular form, decorated in repousse' high relief, on very finely tooled matted ground, depicting various figures in a landscape, including dignitaries, attendants amongst palaces, pavilions and a aristocratic processions along the sides. The box is particularly heavy and very well crafted, richly gilt inside, made by one of the most outstanding silversmiths at the time. The base is hallmarked with Chinese export marks (acid tested shows 900+ standard), Artisan mark of Xian Long (Shanghai), Retailers mark WS (Woshing) Woshing was an important manufacturing and retailing silversmith in Shanghai and Canton.
