The disc-shaped case decorated in a stunning deep crimson guilloché enamel with a silver trimmed rim. The hinged lid showing a gilded interior surface bearing impressed makers marks for Norwegian artist Marius Hammer & silver purity marks denoting .930 silver fineness (greater than sterling silver), opening to reveal a white enamelled interior. In extremely good overall condition with one very minor flake near the hinge. Marius Hammer (1847-1927) was one of Norway’s most illustrious silversmiths whose firm & works were represented in Liberty of London's Christmas catalogues in the late 19th century. This small trinket box was fashioned out of brass and features an applied and removable lid made from enameled copper, which has been set into the brass outer ring. It was made in Norway during the 1960s by an anonymous gold/silversmith. The style is reminiscent of Alfred Klitgaard and Maria Viktor.
