Stunning and broad antique boat-shaped candlestick, beautifully decorated with charming petite floral ornamentation, including details such as rare white opaque glass lilies.
This church /thanksgiving candelabra dates from circa 1900 France or even earlier, and originates from the Catholic Church.
Known as thanksgiving candelabra, they were often gifted to the church from church parishioners and wealthy families, as thanks for a healing prayer or a good harvest. They still stand to this day in Catholic churches, often at the altar or in small niches around the church.
This lovely piece is made of gilded patinated bronze, with a pretty ornamental base. It’s elegantly constructed, like a lush floral twine, with branches and sought-after opaque glass flowers, gilded lilies and rose petals, and has 7 candle pipes for traditional candles.
Perfect for the mantelpiece or on the windowsill.
