Top quality, hand carved and truly impressive antique clock with 8 music melodies. Over the years we have had the pleasure of owning and selling a number of beautiful Black Forest antiques, but never did we come accross a 19th century Black Forest clock with musical box of this size and with such amazing natural details and patina AND with the original clock and music box inside. And if that was not enough, this finest of Black Forest clocks is top quality carved from top to bottom in the form of a detailed Swiss chalet. Mind you, this very rare antique clock is entirely hand carved out of nutwood only, which is another sign of the quality of the workmanship and the richness of materials. We have added a large variety of photos so that you can see the many incredibly detailed parts of this Swiss chalet, such as the roof and chimney, the many doors, the stacked lumber outside, the doghouse, the outhouse on the side, the striking balconies, the goose sticking its head out through the balcony, the picked fence, the ladder going up to the barn loft, the clock inside the facade of the house, the music box cilinder in the base etc etc. This antique clock from the 1800s really comes with the most realistically carved chalet house you will ever see. An outstanding quality antique gilded bronze & Sevres porcelain French 3 piece, 8 day clock garniture with candelabra, by Brocot & Delettrez, Paris, circa 1870. The clock with an 'egg' shaped urn made of cobalt blue Sevres porcelain with a hand-painted panel with a neo-classical beauty and a cupid, the rear is painted with gilt birds & floral decoration. The urn with gilt bronze handles to the sides held in the mouths of lion's masks, the clock below also with sumptuously decorated with gilded cobalt porcelain panels, the clock dial with black Roman numerals & is finely painted with two horses and a chariot with a putti falling out of the chariot. The clock has two winding arbors one for the 8 day time wind the other for a chime, the clock chimes the hours on a soft delicate sounding bell, the clock is in full working order and was recently professionally cleaned. The clock is complemented with a pair of gilt bronze & cobalt blue Sevres porcelain four branch vasiform candelabras, decorated with oval panels to the front with putti & Neoclassical maidens, the back panels finely painted with birds, each candelabra is in two sections and raised on gilt bronze bases with corbel brackets & acanthus leaf feet. The bronze casting is very likely by the Barbedienne Foundry in Paris, as the quality is outstanding, the clock is stamped "BD" for Achille Brocot (1817-1878) and Jean-Baptiste Delettrez (1816-1887), they were two of the most important French clock makers of the mid to late 19th century, please see some biography below. The clock is mechanically & cosmetically in excellent condition, and was recently overhauled by a clock-smith, the porcelain & ormolu are also in excellent condition, one of the very best investment quality gilt-bronze & Sevres porcelain clock garnitures by the top French makers of the period, circa 1870. This garniture will be professionally crated for shipping. Delettrez and Achille Brocot, son of the respected clockmaker Louis-Gabriel Brocot, established the clockmaking company "Brocot et Delettrez" in Paris on 20 October 1851, with premises at 62 Rue Charlot Paris. Jean-Baptiste Delettrez worked alongside Achille Brocot for several years and their clock movements are considered to be the most effective made during the late 19th century. Their specialty was a range of clocks based on the innovations of Brocot père and his other son Antoine, but generally of Achille's greatly advanced original design, some having a unique single-arm double-wheel escapement, some having a temperature-compensated pendulum, some having two dials, one of which showed the time and the other which showed a calendar and often other information such as phases of the moon, times of sunrise & sunset in Paris, etc. The firm was awarded a 1st class prize at the Paris World Exposition of 1857 for a commercial clock...

A Napoleon III Gilt-Bronze Mantel Clock, 'Pendule à Cercles Tournants', By Jean-François Denière, Paris. Of imposing scale, surrounded by four winged putti and garlands of flowers in clouds enveloping a bleu celeste tole star-studded sphere. On a shaped base with a wreath and courting doves. The square-plated movement with Brocot escapement and outside count wheel striking on a bell. Stamped to the backplate ‘Deniere A Paris’ and numbered ‘2385’. France, Circa 1860. This clock, magnificent of scale and conception, numbers amongst Denière's most impressive creations. Denière delivered clocks to the Emperor at the château du Fontainebleau in 1857 and 1861. Both are modelled with playful cherubs pulling foliate garlands which show the same designer as those to the present clock. They can be attributed to the sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824 –1887) who from the 1850s produced for Denière models for candelabra, clocks, jardinieres and fireplace ornaments. A magnificent Renaissance style clock by the renown Parisian clockmaking firm of Le Roy &Fils. Beautifully modelled in finely gilded bronze and finely decorated with exquisite polychrome champlevé enamel. The case is formed with an arched swan neck pediment surmounted by a turret with elaborate finial. To the sides are charming figures of cherubs clutching the baluster turned pillars. A third cherub is seated above the dial. The dial is also gilded bronze with champlevé enamel and is complete with original finely blued steel hands. The clock is decorated in the round with a frosted glass rear door. Please note that this type of clock does not have a glazed bezel to cover the dial. The French movement is of high quality and is by Vincenti et Cie. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock, please ask and we will send you a link. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is particularly good with only minor wear where the clock has been handled and some light marks and discolouration. The rear most bun feet are missing however the clock sits very well without them. Rear frosted glass has some marks. Enamel is very good. Established by Basile Charles Le Roy in 1785, the firm of Le Roy et Fils became a well-established and renowned clockmaker. Basile had been Napoleon's master clockmaker, and along with his son Charles-Louis, he worked for Princess Pauline and the Duke de Bourbon as well. Examples of the firm's work are included in all of the major world collections. The firm was located at the Palais Royale from 1785, the year of its founding, through the death of Charles-Louis at Versailles in 1865. A shop was opened in London, in 1854 at 296 Regent Street under the name of Le Roy and Son. The name was later changed to Le Roy and Fils...

This enameled silver desk clock is unsigned, so a specific maker cannot be identified, but the case was made in France, and the movement in Switzerland in the period and style of Art Deco. The silver content of the case has not been tested, but is believed to be Continental or .800 or just under .925 sterling, The front of the clock is ornately enameled with raised bright red flowers on each corner with contrasting black and red geometric panels with green accents, which are duplicated on the sides.
