Stylish and quite rare heavy gauge silvered chisel Cast Iron Victorian Door Stop of exceptional quality, last half of the Nineteenth Century of English origin. Depicting a standing pose of an Irishman the Duke of Wellington in full uniform attire, holding a sword and standing on a magnificent, stepped platform with a ball foot at each corner. Condition: Good overall condition, with no restoration anywhere, professionally re-silvered by our restorers in London. Doorstop is constructed by bolting together in three areas, see image. Dressed in classical draperies and looking slightly to the left, ending on its original circular socle on spreading base.
