Exclusive Danish early 20th century sculpture of large green glazed goblin
Located in Ebberup, DK
Original antique large unique sculpture of goblin made by Danish artist Anders Møller. Anders Møller resided on Funen and was born in 1890. He was a member of Danish artist group “Germinalen”, a part of the art and ceramic movement in Denmark at that time. The sculpture is estimated to be from the 1930s. This mythical, grotesque creature has exaggerated features and is possibly influenced by European Gothic or Art Nouveau aesthetics. The expression also has a resemblance to the work of earlier artist such as Niels Hansen Jacobsen...

"Pompeii" Memory Jug by Michael Thompson
Located in Chicago, IL
Based in Chicago, IL, contemporary artist Michael Thompson creates unique kites, collages and mixed media works assembled from material fragments of past and present collected in his travels. In his ongoing series of memory jugs, Thompson adorns stoneware vessels with a kaleidoscope of ceramic shards, found objects, and pocket-sized trinkets he collected over the course of his life. Also known as forget-me-not jugs or spirit jars, memory jugs are African American folk art objects that honor a loved one who has recently passed. Small tokens and mementos of the deceased are gathered and affixed to the exterior of a jug or vase, an abundance of memories that celebrates a life lived to the fullest. Michael Thompson applies this tradition to his own practice, creating tactile assemblages of this and that. Formed in the manner of collage, each jug honors the lost memories of generations past and his own memories of personally discovering each item. With varied sources for materials including Kyoto, Turkey, and Mexico, a great number of the found shards are 18th and 19th century ceramics...

Unique Scandinavian Bird Sculpture Rolf Hansen Kongsberg Keramikk, Norway, 1950s
By Rolf Hansen, Kongsberg Keramikk
Located in Odense, DK
Playful unique bird sculpture in glazed chamotte ceramics by Rolf Hansen, Norway. The sculpture was handmade by Hansen at Konsberg Keramikk in the early 1950s. Rolf Hansen was a Norwegian ceramist. From 1947 he attended Kongsberg Keramikk until his death in 2004. Rolf Hansens works make people feel easy to mind, and motives of roosters and bulls were closest to his trademark. The source of inspiration for Rolf Hansen was Pablo Picasso. In 1949 he was in Vallauris in France and became acquainted with Picasso's pottery, and in the early 1950s Rolf Hansen made dishes and jars with abstract decor in his spirit. Black basalt figure of Bacchus. Wedgwood C1780.
Located in Melbourne, Victoria
Exceptionally rare early figure of Bacchus in black basalt. The mixed-case mark places this figure between 1780 and 1785. He is portrayed in typical style, his head garlanded with grapes and with a wine cup to his lips. Bacchus, also known as Dionysus in Greek mythology, is the enigmatic god of wine, fertility, and ritual madness. He symbolizes freedom, ecstasy, and the blurring of societal norms through his rituals and festivities. Bacchus is often depicted in myths as a deity who challenges the status quo, promoting an atmosphere where conventional rules do not apply, and his followers are liberated from their everyday constraints. Born from Zeus and the mortal Semele, Bacchus is unique among gods, bridging the divide between the divine and the human. His followers included the wild and ecstatic maenads, female devotees who often reached states of divine frenzy, and the satyrs, mischievous half-man, half-goat beings. The worship of Bacchus was marked by theatrical processions, dances, and plays, reflecting his patronage of the theater and the dramatic arts. Bacchus’s mythology...
