This incredibly detailed, hand-carved cow can only be from the Swiss Black Forest region around the lake of Brienz. This simply can only be the work of a Swiss master carver, because to be able to create this much detail on a relatively small sculpture takes a god given talent and a lifetime of experience. With the anatomy, the posture AND the balance being perfectly correct, this work of art is simply devine. An experienced antique dealer once learned us that a great sculpture looks good from all angles and that certainly is the case with this striking cow. Some of the details are so intricate, you would think that it took a needle to carve them. Apart from the muscles and bones, in some areas you can even see the veins and the patina is second to none as well. With absolutely no damage or restaurations to be found, we have no problem rating this rare antique as being of museum quality and condition.
