Faenza, located between the Adriatic Sea and Bologna, is known as the “City of Ceramics.” The term faience is a French version of the town’s name. Faenza majolica was highly regarded among the wealthy, many of whom commissioned ceramic mastesr to create pieces featuring heraldry, hunting, and mythological designs.
