Original Nautical Mast figurehead

About the Item

This antique mast figure is French and as the story goes salvaged off a French Ship damaged in the Anglo-French War (1803–1815). The one side shows fire damage and is burned in charcoal black. She is skilled example of 18th century ship building. Carved of three large pieces of wood and bound by large dowel construction she is a work of art. These historic piece are rare finds and found mostly in museums now days. You can own a beautiful example of true nautical history. This piece has two iron metal attachments on the top to allow for hanging. It also has a large iron post running up the center. that held it firmly to the ships frame. I do not have the name of the ship. We bought her from a private maritime collection several years ago on long island where she lived for many years.
