Tiffany glass refers to the many and varied types of glass developed and produced from 1878 to 1933 at the Tiffany Studios in New York, by Louis Comfort Tiffany and a team of other designers, including Clara Driscoll, Agnes F. Northrop and Frederick Wilson. In 1865, Tiffany traveled to Europe, and in London he visited the Victoria and Albert Museum, whose extensive collection of Roman and Syrian glass made a deep impression on him. He admired the coloration of medieval glass and was convinced that the quality of contemporary glass could be improved upon. In his own words, the "Rich tones are due in part to the use of pot metal full of impurities, and in part to the uneven thickness of the glass, but still more because the glass maker of that day abstained from the use of paint". Tiffany was an interior designer, and in 1878 his interest turned toward the creation of stained glass, when he opened his own studio and glass foundry because he was unable to find the types of glass that he desired in interior decoration. His inventiveness both as a designer of windows and as a producer of the material with which to create them was to become renowned. Tiffany wanted the glass itself to transmit texture and rich colors and he developed a type of glass he called "Favrile". The glass was manufactured at the Tiffany factory...

Dazor Model 1000 Industrial Desk Lamp 1950s
By Dazor
Located in Tilburg, NL
Dazor Model 1000 Industrial desk lamp, United States, 1950s. A real American classic, this Dazor Model 1000 desk lamp. Often seen on 1950s desks in modern offices. Stylish and very practical, this desk lamp with TL-lamps can be used on a desk, but can also be enjoyed in a living room. The goose neck is flexible and the lampshade can be positioned in any way desired. Fantastic industrial design, referring to streamline design and art deco shapes with great details like the buttons and the metallic lacquer. The legacy of this lamp was highlighted when the set dressers of the iconic television series 'Mad Men' choose the Dazor 1000 als the standard desk lamp on the desks of all the employees in the beginning of the series, which starts around 1960. Main character Peggy Olson...

Leaded Glass Floral Table Lamp by Lamb Bros., Napanee Indiana, ca. 1915
By Lamb Bros.
Located in Petaluma, CA
A very nice clean example of a leaded glass table lamp from the early part of the 20th century. The lamp was made by Lamb Bros. The ring on the top of the shade was done by Lamb Bros. The heat cap and finial are also the work of Lamb Bros. It's an antique leaded glass made famous by Tiffany. The floral shade is colorful and has just a couple, (I see just 2) that are closed and secure, not uncommon on these lamps. The condition is actually amazing as it has no broken tiles. The base is very art nouveau and a particularly nice example. A really nice antique lamp...
