Small and robust bulkhead lights removed from a military complex in Scotland.
The stunning Art Deco inspired lights are were made in England circa 1920 by Holophane.
Named"HOLOPHANE WIDERLITE BULKHEAD" in the Holophane brochures.
These heavy duty bulkhead fitting are constructed from cast iron bodies and trademark Holophane prismatic glass, the glass is smooth on the outside with the prisms moulded to the interior of the glass.
The linear glass prisms also have a frosted "VELVET" finish, the prismatic lenses are designed to give a wide lateral spread to the light rays perfectly suited to the areas these were originally designed for in ships, corridors, subways and stores.
The catalogue snippet shows later cast aluminium versions of the light circa 1950.
Available in two sizes, these being the smaller we also have 30+ available of the larger version recovered from the same site.
The light fittings have been professionally renovated, the original external finish has been maintained to display the wonderful patina from years of industrial use.
Internally the electric components have all been updated with certified fittings and can be rewired with a cable of choice.
There is a single cable entry point on the fitting allowing to be hardwired with 20mm steel conduit if required.
