About the Item

This is an early Pair of MAX Armchairs, initially designed by Ray and Charles Eames in 1953. This particular pair of chairs was produced by Zenith and Herman Miller in the USA in ca. 1953. The listed price includes the pair of two chairs. The shell seats of the chairs are comprised of orange-red fiberglass, and their X-bases are made with tubular steel covered in black paint. MAX is an acronym for Medium Arm X Base Chair. Each chair measures 25 inches deep, 23.5 inches wide, and 27.25 inches high. They have a seat height of 16 inches, and an arm height of 23 inches. The fiberglass shells show some scuffs and fading, and the bases show signs of patina and age. A few of the boot glides have small cracks. Overall, this pair of chairs is in good condition.
