Incredible vintage Spanish Revival or Mediterranean style floral tapestry chenille sofa comprised of a dark wood frame with barley twist spindle post sides, brass decorative details, three foam filled loose zippered Dacron wrapped foam seat cushions, and three loose zippered Dacron wrapped foam back cushions, two bolster arm pillows, new dust cover, round tapered wood back legs, and front ball casters. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, at first look I thought this sofa was reupholstered but given a second look this is its original! It is in great condition. But the foam in the seat cushions is starting to show its age and will need to be replaced soon; however, that’s easy to do with the zippered cushions. Circa, 1960-1970’s. This is a chair fit for a KING… or a QUEEN!!! This is an absolutely fabulous chair… some call it a Savonarola or Curule chair, it may also be known as a Renaissance or Dante style chair. All correct, and all very similar in style with slightly different features. It is palatial in structure with a wide U-shaped seat and frame with curved legs which create an X style base. It is comprised of gorgeous dark stained wood with horizontal turned spindles under the arms and turned stretchers on the base. The seat and back is upholstered in a fantastic gold striped velvety chenille fabric with hammered steel nail head details, and it has a carved flower motif in the center under the seat. It is sturdy, richly carved, and has a spacious, splendid design! It is Spanish Revival in style with a bit of Medieval or Renaissance Revival flair and it is sure to be an eye-catching piece in any room of your home. It would be wonderful in a corner of your bedroom, in the study across from the fireplace, or as an accent chair in the living room.
