Footnotes
Marsh & Jones, later known as Marsh, Jones & Cribb, were cabinet makers and upholsterers based in Leeds, Yorkshire, operating from 1864 to 1936. Their workshops and showrooms were located at West Bar, Boar Lane, and Basinghall Street.
The business began in 1864 when John Marsh and Edward Jones purchased the established firm of John Kendell at 10 West Bar. They later expanded to Boar Lane in 1869. Kendell had also maintained a London branch at Cavendish Square.
Henry Humphries Cribb, a London-based furnisher with a business in Soho Square, sent his son to Leeds to apprentice with Marsh & Jones. By 1872, the younger Cribb had become a partner in the firm, which then began trading as Marsh, Jones & Cribb, as reflected in contemporary directories.

The Golden Age of the Netherlands spanned for nearly a century finishing towards the end of the 17th century. It was at this time that the Netherlands saw economic prosperity and artistic achievements many of which are now on display in the art galleries all over the world. Most of the Dutch Masters plied their trade during this Golden Age, Johannes Vermeer being possibly the most well known and popular. As prosperity grew, so did the status of many households creating a need for more sophisticated furniture yet functional. The Dutch linen press met this need providing large amounts of storage space to store linens, garments, and other household items.
This same ability to provide ample storage has been utilised in many of today’s home although with a modern twist. It’s not unusual to now see the Dutch linen press used...
