About the Item

Amazing find, this is an 'apprentice piece', rare as can be, we sourced this from a family who's relative had passed away. He had been an engineer man and boy in a factory in Southampton that manufactured the Spitfire fighters. He had made this engineers bench himself at the tender age of sixteen from elements found in the workshop. What a story, what a history. Would make the most attractive addition as a kitchen sideboard or shop display, maybe even a restaurant chiffonier server. Solid mahogany super thick fillet jointed worktop set above an array of varying sized drawers, many retaining the original tool dividers and holders. Black enamelled ironmongery and cast iron support leg with original boarded back plates. Now hand scraped with a bees waxed finish. Circa 1940.
