Good 18th century George I period oak lowboy having shaped and molded top with mitered breadboard top having reentrant "baby bum" corners over one long and two short drawers, the apron with scalloped decoration on front and sides and standing on cabriole legs ending in pad feet, the whole possessing good rich color and patination. This lowboy represents an interesting point in the evolution in furniture construction as the maker followed the box construction of the earlier William and Mary period where the legs are applied rather than being an integral part of the construction which came about during the Queen Anne and George I period.
