This is magnificent and rare, vintage Kaymet silver plated serving trolley with revolving dome, dating from the mid 20th Century. ​It is one of the most desirable models that they made, with the revolving dome which makes it very easy to use. This stunning trolley is suitable for serving cooked meats such as roast beef, lamb and turkey. It features a vented silver plated locking retractable revolving dome which opens to a detachable well and water tank over three spirit burners. The water tank has two recesses for containers for gravy or vegetables, as well as a wooden carving board. It has a vented screw knob for filling the tank with water and for vapour or steam to escape. The sides are fitted with handles and a detachable plate holder, and it has an oval silver plated utensil tray. It is set upon a turned leg base with two shelves and stands on four rubberised castors. This superb piece was crafted by perhaps the finest silversmith of the time. Serve your roast beef in style! Condition: This truly exceptional piece is offered in superb fully restored working condition. The silver parts have been dismantled and silver plated, the base has been cleaned and polished, all parts were then reassembled and new castors have been fitted. In the 1940s Sydney Schreiber had a small metalworking business which was helping the war effort by manufacturing boxes for radar equipment. After the war he needed to find a different use for his machinery. He changed the company name to Kaymet in 1947 and began making trolleys and trays for the catering business and he exhibited these at the Festival of Britain in 1951.
