About the Item
Simple features, vibrant colors and strong contrasts. Tarsila do Amaral's "Boneca" (1928) expresses her understanding of the place of her childhood, which she experienced in a very sweet way. Tarsila, who played a key role in the emergence of Brazil’s modernism movement, said: "My strength comes from remembering my childhood on the farm, running and climbing trees."
Here we seek to reproduce the Brazilianness and energy of the colors portrayed by the artist in the work, combining a playful soul with fluid and organic lines. For the representation of the form, we seek to respect the contour of the work, with the use of geometric shapes so present in the Cubist movement, also present in Tarsila's expressions.
