Future Fossils Side Table in Terracotta Stoneware by Simon Johns
About the Item
Future Fossils End Table is the result of hand pressing slabs of clay into a plaster mold, using the collections texture. The cracks and defects of this type of assembly remain visible on the outside and randomly interfere with the main texture. These cannot be seen until the entire piece is ready to leave the mold, and embracing these aspects emphasizes the hand-made aspect and simple quality of this age-old material. Cream stoneware or terracotta coloured stoneware with aluminum tops.

Simon Johns
Simon Johns is a Canadian fine arts-trained designer working out of the woods in southern Quebec. He approaches design with hands-on studio experiments closer to sculpture than to design. His work draws from relations between the manufactured product and the raw surroundings of the studio's wooded location. His work has been shown at Sight Unseen Offsite for NY Design Week in 2016 and 2017, at Wanted Design Manhattan 2016 and 2017, and at the Toronto Design Offsite (TODO) 2017 and 2018.
