About the Item

Circa 1950 · Solid cedar, three turned legs Someone decided a table could take the shape of a painter's palette. They were right. The tabletop cuts the unmistakable palette silhouette from solid cedar: the organic contour on one side, the upper notch, and the circular hole that on the original served to hold it with the thumb. Here, that hole is simply beautiful — a void that visually lightens a piece that might otherwise feel dense, and that never lets you forget its reference. The cedar wood speaks for itself. Its warm grain, in tones that shift from mahogany to sienna, has the depth of a material that was chosen with intention. The finish brings out the grain without concealing it — no varnish to turn wood into bright plastic. The three turned legs, tapered and clean in profile, anchor the piece with the elegance characteristic of mid-century design: functional, proportioned, not a millimeter too many. A table that borrows its form from the world of art — and that in any interior works, in turn, as a work of art itself.
