Venetian Painted Side Table, 18th c
About the Item
This beautiful hand-painted Venetian table has a yellow ground with green scrolls and red foliate decoration. It has a scalloped apron and stands on cabriole legs. The top has a painted canvas applied over the wood with a glass insert. The Venetian's used this technique to allow for finer detail on a smooth surface that was not subject to the cracking and shrinkage of wood. A perfect small accent for the room needing a splash of color.
