About the Item

This finely done German drawing is an excellent example of classical study work done by an aspiring artist, the goal to learn scale, proportion and anatomical lessons from the great masters of the past. The rendering is very believable as a figure but just as believable as a statue of a discus thrower. The clear sensitive nature of the subject is enhanced by the framing giving the viewer an image of the paper and the nature of the drawing as an academic work. French matted with a light blue color wash border and black lining on ivory, the frame is a vintage piece and shows age and wear. The piece is from an extensive collection of drawings we will be presenting on our web site throughout the coming year
