Beach, ocean, painting, seascape
In her work “Surf”, artist Anna Shesterikova turns to the motif of the ocean as a living, breathing element, where the movement of water becomes the main carrier of emotion. During her trip to the Seychelles, she visited one of the most dangerous beaches on Victoria Island, where swimming is prohibited due to strong sea currents. There were no people there at all, and only the waves, crashing against the coastal stones, breaking into millions of drops, soaring high up.
The composition is built horizontally, with a clear division into plans: a sandy shore, a transparent coastal wave and a distant horizon line, dissolving into the heavenly space. This construction creates a sense of deep perspective.
The color palette is finely tuned: warm, muted shades of sand contrast with the rich turquoise blues and ultramarine tones of the ocean. White acrylic splashes, applied in a free, impulsive gesture, transmit the energy of the wave impact and visually “extend” beyond the surface of the water, enhancing the effect of presence.
Working with texture deserves special attention. Acrylic is used here not only as a color, but also as a material element - splashes and foam acquire almost relief expressiveness, creating a feeling of freshness, salt and moist air. At the same time, the long-range plan is resolved softly and generally, which gives the space depth and calm. But the main textural element of the painting is real Seychelles sand, which is mixed into acrylic paint.
The painting balances between a realistic landscape and an emotional experience of nature. “Surf” is the moment of contact between land and ocean, peace and strength, silence and movement. The work from the Seychelles series sounds like a visual meditation, inviting the viewer to stop and listen to the rhythm of the water.
The painting is completely ready to hang on the wall and is equipped with hooks. The sides are painted.
