About the Item

ATO is a prestigious watchmaking brand founded by Léon Hatot (1883–1953). He studied at the National School of Watchmaking in Besançon from 1895 to 1898. Between 1918 and 1919, a factory was built for the “watchmaking and jewelry workshop,” specializing in luxury timepieces. In 1923, he became interested in possible innovations in watchmaking and began collaborating with Marius Lavet, an engineer from the Arts et Métiers and a graduate of the École Supérieure d'Électricité. He subsequently began manufacturing electric clocks and timepieces, which were marketed under the ATO brand starting in 1923. Two years later, in 1925, he was awarded the Grand Prize for Decorative Arts. ATO Electric Table Clock Made of glass, with chrome-plated metal fittings. Visible mechanism, battery-operated.
