Abstract Candle Holder Jorma Laine Turun Hopea Finland 7pcs. Brass
Located in Orimattila, FI
Abstract Candle holder Jorma Laine Turun Hopea Finland 7pcs.
Very special Candlesticks.
Hard to find these anywhere anymore.
Jorma Laine (1930-2002) was a Finnish jewelry designer, whose work in bronze and silver (more seldom gold) is easily recognizable. He developed a style of his own, very modernistic and often abstract, throughout the 60’s and 70’s.
He was born on the 10th of July 1930, as the only son to his working class parents. Already at a young age he was gifted and spent most of his time drawing. After primary school, he attended the renowned art college Turun Piirustuskoulu (Turku Art School).
During his illustrious career, he had his own company, Silver-Laine, but is perhaps best known for the designs he did for Turun Hopea. He also designed silver jewelry for Kultateollisuus. Later on, after a successful career in jewelry design, he retired to his cabin in the forest where he led a hermitlike life until his death by heart attack on the 27th of December 2002, 72 years old.
Jorma Laine was during the 1960s and 1970s one of the foremost jewellery designers who created his own field within Finnish jewellery with his unique designs. Laine's jewellery can be perceived as stories about nature and its creatures and the human and different cultures.
Laine graduated from Suomen Kultasepät Oy's (later Kultateollisuus) private goldsmith school in Turku in 1950 and worked for the firm until the mid-1950s, after which he started working for Kultasepät Salovaara in Turku. 1963 Laine returned to Kultateollisuus as its chief designer and worked there until 1969.
During this period Laine founded his own firm and workshop Lai-For Koru. In 1972 Laine moved over to Turun Hopea as their chief designer and worked there until his retirement in 1985.
Nature and works of art greatly inspired laine. He was especially fascinated by South and Central American works of art, cave paintings and the décor on Sami hand drums...

Henrik Immanuel Wigström born on 1862 and was a Finnish silver & goldsmith. He was one of the most important Fabergé workmasters along with Michael Perchin. Perchin was the head workmaster from 1886 until his death in 1903, when he was succeeded by his chief assistant Henrik Wigström. These two workmasters were responsible for almost all the imperial Easter eggs.
Henrik Wigström was born in Ekenäs, Finland, and was apprenticed to a local Danish born goldsmith named Peter Madsén, a successful manufacturer of silverware who was familiar with the jewellery trade in the city of St. Petersburg, as at one time he had had a workshop there. Once in Madsén's employment, his master's trade with Russia, as well as his numerous business contacts here, brought him to work in St. Petersburg. Goldsmith Werner Elfström employed Wigström as a apprentice on his arrival in the capital in 1875. Wigström became assistant in 1884, at the age of 22, to Perchin, whose shop at that time was already working exclusively for Fabergé.
Wigström became head workmaster at Fabergé after Perchin's death in 1903. The number of craftsmen in Wigström's workshop diminished drastically with the outbreak of World War I. By 1918, the Revolution forced the complete closing of the House of Fabergé. Aged 56, Wigström retreated almost empty-handed to his summer house, on Finnish territory, and died at Terijoki in 1923. His art is similar to Perchin's but tends to be in the Louis XVI, Empire, or neo-classical style. Nearly all the Fabergé hardstone...

By Fabergé
Located in London, GB
A Faberge' jewelled and enamelled gold and hardstone seal, the flat oval handle inset at both sides with a moss agate panel over sunburst engine-turning within a rose-cut diamond-set border, the mount enamelled in opaque white, the collar with swirled fluting within further diamonds, blank nephrite matrix, workmaster Henrik Wigström, St Petersburg, circa 1910.
Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley & Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley & Skinner black and gold presentation box. This exquisite hardstone seal was made by Fabergé and comes from the Fabergé collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This seal features a flat oval handle with a gorgeous dendritic agate panel inset. This particular agate has the natural appearance of a miniature treecape, adding fine detail to this piece. Surrounding the handle is a frame of glittering rose-cut diamonds.
