Georg Jensen 1954 by Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel Bracelet Cuff 107 in 925 Sterling
By Georg Jensen and Nanna Ditzel
Located in Miami, FL
Bangle cuff designed by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel for Georg Jensen. This bracelet is categorized as one of the most iconic modern designs from the 20th century. Created in Denmark by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel for the Georg Jensen company back in the 1954. Is a beautiful sleek piece with plain curved surfaces crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. It is broad hollow cuff expanding towards the centre, fitted with invisible hinge at the back and with a discrete push-button opening at the front as a lock. When is viewed in profile, from the side, the shape echoes a Viking axe head. Weight: 100.6 Grams, (64.48 Dwt). Size: Fit a wrist up to 6.5 Inches (16.5 Cm). Measurements: The widest measure is 52 mm (2.04 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with Danish post 1945 hallmarks, the maker's mark, the silver assay mark and signed, "GEORG JENSEN 925S 107 S/M NJD [monogram]". *NJD = Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel. Nanna Ditzel, born in 1923. Was a Danish designer graduated from the furniture department of the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. Has been studying under prof. Kaare Klint at the Royal Academy of Copenhagen. Nanna Ditzel is working with experimental and industrial design furniture, textiles, silver, faience and glass. Has experimented with the use of split-level living for indoors and outdoors. The ideas have been carried through in playgrounds, children libraries and showrooms. Freelance designer, she has a design office and showrooms in London. Nanna Ditzel started independent design office in 1946 together with Jorgen Ditzel. The co-operation lasted until the death of Jorge Ditzel in 1961. Nanna Ditzel created many designs for Georg Jensen, mostly jewelry although she also created some hollowware. The relationship between the couple and the Silversmith began when Nanna decided to start designing jewelry as something she could do at home while her children slept. Soon after, a jewelry competition sponsored by A. Michelsen arose, and her designs had won first prize. Later on, in 1954, Finn Juhl, who was developing the 50th anniversary exhibition, passed the design work off for the exhibition to the Ditzels. Five pieces of jewelry were created for this exhibit, which were very well received. Further jewelry designs were created, and many of these pieces would go on to win various awards and prizes. In 1968, Nanna Ditzel remarried to Kurt Heide and relocated to London where they continued to work in the realm of design, establishing their own company Nanna Ditzel Productions Ltd. In 1986, her second husband passed away, and she moved back to Denmark, continuing her work. In recent years, Ditzel has focused mainly on furniture design, such as the Trinidad chair in 1993, however this design has also led to the further refinement for her jewelry pieces such as the bracelet #389 in 1994. Ditzel has won many major awards during her long career and has had her work exhibited all over the world. She received the silver and gold medals at the Milan Tirennale (1954 and 1960), the Lunning Prize (with Jorgen Ditzel in 1954) and a gold medal at the International Furniture Design Competition in 1990, and the Thorvald Bindesboll Medal in 1999. She has also taken on the title of Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog, Honorable Royal Designer ( 1996). From Georg Jensen Hollowware...

David Andersen 1910 Art Nouveau Enameled Guilloche Snuff Box In .925 Sterling
By David Andersen
Located in Miami, FL
A guilloche enameled pill box designed by David Andersen. Extremely rare early 20th century enamel pill-box, created in Norway during the late Edwardian and art nouveau period at the workshop of David Andersen, circa 1910. This beautiful box was carefully crafted with impeccable details in solid .925/.999 standard silver with gilded interiors finish. Made of rectangular form with curved edges and fitted with a five barrels hinged lid, that can be raised by a simple thumbpiece. Engine turned guilloche decoration topped with applications of translucent silvered-white and light purple enamels and finally embellished with tiny flowers motifs decorations in high relief. Weight: 59.40 Grams, (38.08 Dwt). Measurements: 65 mm by 38 mm and a height of 13 mm (2.56 x 1.50 x 0.51 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with French and Norwegian marks, the maker's mark associated to David Andersen inside a cartouche, the mark for the assay of the silver S .925 and stamped twice with the French import mark of the swan, for importation. Very interesting exports and imports marks. Note: The hallmark of a swan facing to the left inside an oval (Osprey-124), was introduced in 1893 for small silver items imported into France. The silver product need to have at least a standard assay of .800/999 or over. The swan mark indicates that the item was produced in a non-treaty country and served as an import identification. The swan mark used until 1970. David Andersen David Andersen was born in 1843 in Østre Toten, Innlandet to Anders Svendsen and Anne Margrethe Gulbrandsdatter, and was the father of goldsmith Arthur David-Andersen. He was one of the most important Norwegian goldsmiths. From 1859 he was in apprenticeship with the jeweler Jacob Tostrup in Christiania (now called Oslo). He spent several periods abroad, in Berlin, Stockholm, Paris and London. During his stay in London he also imported Norwegian filigree works to the United Kingdom. He established his own goldsmith workshop in Christiania 1876, which eventually became a leading company in the goldsmith industry in Norway. A significant part of his filigree works was exported to Great Britain. As of 1899 his company employed 92 men...

This extremely rare bracelet was produced in very limited quantities in the late 1960’s as part of the ‘Royal Bini’ collection of ceramic jewelry produced by Royal Copenhagen after the acquisition of Georg Jensen. He trained at the Technical High School in Copenhagen before joining Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice. He became a major designer for the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory from 1912 to 1975 working in the uniquely Danish mode of simplicity and functionalism. He went on to become the company's most prolific designer, being appointed Artistic Director between 1928-1969, whilst also doing the same job at Royal Copenhagen from 1949 onwards. He designed some of the company's best known ranges - Solbjerg 1934, Marselis 1953, the Baca series and he encouraged and oversaw the production of the Tenera series by a talented group of young female Scandinavians. He also produced many other prized pieces in high fired glazes such as Solfatara and Clair de Lune Note: "The Royal Bini was a new jewelry idea created by The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory, the ceramists Doreen Middelboe...
