At the center of this ring by Ursula Rickmers Jewelry sits a 1.15 carat hexagon grey diamond with a rose-cut surface, its broad, flat facets giving you an unobstructed view into the stone's interior. The grey diamond is heavily saturated, leaning toward charcoal with clouded passages and darker mineral traces visible beneath the facets. Rose-cut hexagons have a particular way of handling light: instead of the sharp sparkle of a brilliant cut, they produce a softer, more reflective glow that changes as the stone tilts, almost like light moving across still water.
The band builds outward from the grey diamond in layers. Immediately flanking the hexagon, two baguette-cut diamonds totaling 0.10 carats create a geometric bridge between the center stone and the pavé shoulders. From there, small round brilliant diamonds totaling 0.06 carats continue along the 18k white gold band, adding a line of fine brightness that extends halfway around the ring. The progression from hexagon to baguette to round gives the design an architectural rhythm, each cut type serving a different purpose in the overall composition.
