Sterling Silver Tufa Cast Cuff Bracelet with Turquoise by Jason Begaye (Navajo)
Sterling Silver Tufa Cast Cuff Bracelet with Turquoise by Jason Begaye (Navajo)

Sterling Silver Tufa Cast Cuff Bracelet with Turquoise by Jason Begaye (Navajo)

Located in Scottsdale, AZ

This exceptional tufa cast sterling silver cuff by Navajo silversmith Jason Begaye showcases a striking square turquoise cabochon set at its center. The stone is framed by a richly textured surface, characteristic of the tufa casting process, which lends the bracelet its organic depth and individuality. The design is further elevated by carefully polished motifs that emerge in contrast against the matte, stone-textured background. On one side of the turquoise, traditional imagery—including a Kokopelli figure, sunray elements, and corn stalk patterns—symbolizes life, growth, and harmony. The opposite side features bold geometric designs, creating a balanced composition that merges cultural symbolism with contemporary form. The interplay between textured silver and high-polish detailing highlights the artist’s technical mastery, resulting in a piece that is both sculptural and deeply expressive. Dimensions Width: ¾" – 3/8" Stone: 3/8" x 5/16" Gap: 1" Inside Measurement: 5 ¼" Total Inner Circumference: 6 ¼" Weight: 1.4 oz Signed: Yes About Tufa Casting Tufa casting is a traditional Navajo silversmithing technique in which molten silver is poured into a hand-carved mold made from tufa stone, a soft volcanic material. As the mold is destroyed during the casting process, no two pieces are ever identical. Each work retains the natural texture of the stone, giving it a distinctive, organic character that reflects both the material and the maker’s hand. About the Artist — Jason Begaye (Navajo, b. 1950s) Born in the 1950s in Fort Defiance, Arizona, Jason Begaye comes from a distinguished family of Navajo silversmiths. He is the son of Jimmy Begaye and the brother of noted artists Marco and Vernon Begaye. He learned the foundations of jewellery-making within his family and further developed his skills under the guidance of Al Nez...

Sterling Silver Handmade Vintage Bisbee Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace
Sterling Silver Handmade Vintage Bisbee Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace

Sterling Silver Handmade Vintage Bisbee Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace

Located in Scottsdale, AZ

An astonishing seventeen perfectly matched natural Bisbee turquoise cabochons were used to create this super rare squash blossom necklace. Today, due to the scarcity of the turquoise the necklace would not be able to be made. Each of the large specimens is the signature look of the lavender pit of the mine, deep Bisbee blue with reddish brown and purple matrix. The quality of the silver work is a great testament to the rarity and beauty of the stone. It is strung with beautiful handmade silver beads and is very wearable. Bisbee mine turquoise was one of the first to appear for sale on the modern American market, which is at least partly responsible for its fame. The turquoise mine was a secondary operation to the Bisbee copper mine, operated by the Phelps Dodge Corporation. The vast majority of Bisbee turquoise surfaced when the Phelps Dodge started their open pit...

Sterling Silver & 18k Gold 4-Piece Ranger Buckle Set by Mona Van Riper

Sterling Silver & 18k Gold 4-Piece Ranger Buckle Set by Mona Van Riper

Located in Scottsdale, AZ

Sterling silver ranger set by Santa Fe artist Mona Van Riper. The set consists of a 2 1/8” x 2 1/4” buckle, two keepers and a tip. The buckle and keepers have 18k gold star accents with garnets and amethysts. Made to fit a 1” belt. Price is for buckle set only. Belts are sold separately. About the Artist Mona Van Riper was raised in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. She began silver-smithing at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House in Taos in 1976. Making and designing jewelry has been a constant part of her life ever since. Mona is most well-known for her elaborate and intricate buckles, whether with a western theme, crown, fleur-de-lis, heart or with her eponymous skulls. Most of the country’s finest buckle makers—often artisans who learned the skills from their fathers and grandfathers—ply their craft in remote locales, often in obscurity. Mona Van Riper fits that profile. She creates one-of-a-kind turquoise, 18-karat gold, and sterling silver buckles in a 10-by-10-foot utility room in her home located on a dirt road, miles outside of Santa Fe, N.M. Mona’s early jewelry was heavy stamped Southwestern style made from hand-cast ingots and coins. Over the years her style has developed into a more sophisticated and contemporary look while maintaining her signature old-world flavor. In 1992 Mona introduced engraving into her work which has given her jewelry a broader appeal. Mona’s unique jewelry is made from sterling silver in combination with 18 karat gold overlays and engraving. She often uses rare and very high-grade custom cut turquoise in her pieces. Mixing precious and semi-precious stones also gives her jewelry a timeless look. You will find notable differences in quality between artisan-made belt buckles and those that major luxury brands’ machines churn out by the thousands. Handmade solid silver and...
