The composition features an elegant standing lady and gentleman flanking the circular enamel dial, framed beneath an elaborate crest with twin birds and scrolling rococo ornament. The entire design reflects the celebrated French taste for theatrical and romantic interior pieces of the period. The architectural base is lavishly decorated with deep scrolling foliage, shell motifs and openwork ornament, contrasted beautifully by the white stone panels. The clock retains its original mechanical movement with bell strike, recently tested. It runs steadily and strikes correctly on the half hour and hour.
