This sculptural marble coffee table was custom-made in the 1970s and is a unique piece characterized by its strong geometric proportions and beautifully veined natural stone.
The square coffee table consists of two separate elements: a substantial central pedestal and a removable marble top. The pedestal is constructed from four marble panels and is hollow inside, while the tabletop itself is made from approximately 2 cm thick solid marble. Its particularly substantial appearance is created by the elaborate stepped and profiled edge, which gives the tabletop additional visual depth and architectural character.
The pale marble displays an elegant natural grey veining across both the tabletop and base. Combined with the low, monolithic silhouette, it creates the luxurious yet restrained appearance associated with high-end 1970s interiors.
The tabletop rests freely on the pedestal and is neither glued nor screwed into place. The two-part construction also makes the table considerably easier to transport.
