Acácio Viegas

Born in 1976, in Viana do Castelo, in the early days of high school he aroused a taste for the arts where he excelled. He attended a professional course in Technical Design and at the age of 17 he was a designer and modeler in one of Viana's most prestigious architectural offices. In 2002 he completed his Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Product Design and in 2002 he graduated in Product Design, both at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. Later, in 2006, he completed his Master's Degree in Industrial Design, at the University of Oporto. Designer since 1999, he has gone through the most diverse areas, from product design, to graphic design, web design, and retail design. In 1999, he exhibited in the first edition of “Experimentadesign”, Meeting Point, with the object "Quatro L." His portfolio includes internationally recognized works obtained by participating in contests and selected by the media in the areas of graphic and product design. In 2002, by invitation, he initiates his teaching career at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, as a teaching assistant where he remained for several years, where he taught design and geometric design classes for the curriculum of the Degree in Design and Artistic Ceramics. He was also a coordinator of master's theses and a trainer of several students. In 2014, in the search for new forms of expression, fruit of an inner need for spiritual manifestation and expansion of consciousness, he finds in the arts the way to extrapolate the functionality of objects and the objectivity of communication imposed by design, opening new paths of semantic exploration of the form to communicate with the soul. The mixture of knowledge clearly influences the choice of techniques and supports, thus presenting the artist a pragmatic approach to representation. He explores the digital as a form of study, preferring the industrial and contemporary techniques.
