Brooklyn Heights Townhouse

by The Brooklyn Home Co. in Brooklyn, NY

The Brooklyn Home Company wanted to honor the historic bones of this 1845 Greek Revival townhouse while bringing in the liveliness and color of the Brooklyn art scene happening outside of its doors. Original details like the crown molding and arched doorways were restored, but one main focus was to modernize. The first floor was opened up to its full 25-foot-width, and intrigue was added via a sculptural banister, mirrors, and custom furniture pieces created by sculptor Fitzhugh Karol and Philadelphia studio BDDW. The six-bedroom home has three exposures of light and views of one of Brooklyn’s most beautiful streets, which were maximized with a full wall of windows in the kitchen, plus a roof deck equipped with a full kitchen. Warmth and brightness come indoors with sustainable, reclaimed Douglas Fir timbers and white oak floors. Dual marble-topped vanities surround a free-standing soaking tub in the master bath.
