Chicago Co-Op Remodel

This young family wanted a weekend getaway in the city steps from Michigan Avenue, the lake, and all the city has to offer. On East Lake Shore Drive, we found a vintage co-op with 2 neighboring apartments last updated in the '60s. We combined the 2 separate units into 1 lavish apartment with a gut-remodel, relocating the kitchen to the front of the apartment overlooking the lake. It needed fresh direction, so we took traditionalist cues from the 1930's Benjamin Marshall building and paired that with modern styling, plus a hefty pop of color. The effect is equal parts striking and fresh, yet somehow a peaceful retreat...the perfect place to a weekend in the city.
