Lovers Walk

Lovers Walk is a jewel lovers paradise. Nestled into the cliffs of Cork in Ireland, this 70’s home oozes boldness and bravery in a showstopping way. It is a celebration of materiality, tactility and intricate detailing. A family home oozing with personality, individuality and design essence.

Starting out as a small project, the project and our role grew throughout works, when we were tasked to rethink every space, the overall flow and impact and every carefully considered design detail. A project that shows quality and substance is more important than scale, every inch of space has been designed to work in harmony with each other, linking in both sensory story and experiential atmosphere as it unfolds from room to room.

Lovers Walk epitomises collaboration as every space combines craft and skills from a mix of artisans and specialists, who executed and interpreted the design detail from KLD. The small size of the property meant every detail was ever more integral and the overlap between disciplines was evermore blurred, meaning every party needed to work together as one extended team. The project evolved during construction as it became apparent that the building needed significant structural changes, which meant everyone involved had to take a proactive, creative and solution-based thinking approach to achieve the best result. It is because of the unexpected journey of this project that the finished home is as strong and well considered as it is.
