Miami Beach Apartment

Apartment by Charlap Hyman & Herrero in Miami Beach, FL

The theory behind Charlap Hyman & Herrero's renovation of this Miami Beach apartment was to reinterpret what a quintessentially Miami space can be, with an emphasis on surrealism. The firm took into account with precision the extreme environmental conditions and architectural history of Miami Beach - conceiving a design scheme organized around the elements. The vision for this residence was achieved by working with beautiful antique pieces from Italy and France, and including numerous contemporary commissions from artists such as me she of Open Studio, Emmett Moore, Shun Kinoshita, and Matthew Verdon. The entryway includes a sea-shell encrusted ceiling and door, a 1960s BBPR Polinnia Ceiling Light for Artemide, a 1990s art piece “Chest of Drawers” by Tejo Remy for Droog Design, and a built-in sofa paying homage to Hermann Czech's renovation of Palais Schwarzenberg. Adorning the sofa is a custom CHH designed pillow, upholstered with a vintage kimono.
