Pill Hill Proper
Our client purchased a historic home in the vernacular of Italianate architecture. The home had not been updated in several decades and what had been done was tired and certainly not in keeping with the original architecture.
During the design phase we relocated the kitchen allowing us to add a large pantry and breakfast nook.
An original oversized sitting room became the formal dining room, and we were able to carve out a large and well-stocked bar area within this space.
We created a front parlor off the large entry foyer and connected it to the bar and dining room allowing our client, who’s a masterful mixologist, to entertain his friends in these adult spaces.
The family room, opposite the front parlor and connected to the new enhanced kitchen, provides this growing family with plenty of space to gather, play games, watch television and simply cozy up by the original wood burning fireplace. This is the only living space that can be closed off to the rest of the first floor, allowing our client’s children to entertain friends with all the high-pitched noise that comes with it!
We kept the original staircase and railings leading to both the 2nd and 3rd floors. On the 2nd floor we designed 2 office spaces for our clients who work from home. One or both of these spaces can eventually become guest bedrooms.
On this floor we also carved out a laundry room, a hallway bathroom and a primary suite.
The 3rd floor is devoted to our clients’ daughters who each have their own bedroom and share a large bathroom as well as a flex space that currently serves as a playroom. This flex space will later serve as a large walk-in closet when the girls reach into their tween/teen years.
